What is AT?

AT, or assistive technology, is equipment or devices that help people to do things safer, easier or more independently.

If you think that AT could benefit you, an assistive technology assessment can support applications for funding from the NDIS.

NDIS-Funded Assistive Technology

Lift Health Group will find the right AT for you.

Bedroom Aids

This includes electric beds, over-bed aids and sling lifters.

Mobility Aids

This includes wheelchairs, walking frames, walking sticks and mobility scooters.

Technology

This includes iPads with AAC, communication boards, daily planners, clocks and other devices.

Bathroom Safety

This includes shower chairs, commodes, rails and long-handled sponges.

Vision and Hearing

This includes hearing aids, screen readers and magnifying glasses.

Falls Prevention

This includes smartwatches, sensor mats and pendant alarms.

Disclaimer – these images are only an indication of the equipment that can be funded. You must meet NDIS requirements and these assistive technologies must be reasonable and necessary, as recommended by our qualified practitioners.

“Our clients with degenerative conditions express that one of the hardest things is losing their independence. How great is it that there are so many amazing devices out there to enable them to continue being independent.”

AT Assessments with Lift Health Group

What to expect when booking with us.

Step 1

Organising an Appointment

Depending on the clients’ needs, an occupational therapist, physiotherapist or speech pathologist will arrange a convenient appointment time.

Step 2

Specialised Assessment

The assessment will take anywhere from 1-4 hours and our clients have the opportunity to trial various options to find the most appropriate item for their needs.

Step 3

Submission to the NDIS

The therapist will submit a report detailing the results of the assessment to the NDIS, which will support your application for AT funding.

Step 4

Sourcing Equipment

Our team is familiar with challenges of sourcing equipment in rural and remote Australia. We have built relationships with local providers to ensure every client receives the equipment they need.

Step 5

Professional Training

Therapists will support the client through every step of the process. We will continue to provide support until the client and their families/carers feel confident to operate the prescribed equipment.

Yes, we will gather quotes from one or more registered NDIS suppliers and include these in your funding application.

This depends on the complexity of the equipment and supplier timelines. Straightforward items may be trialled and approved within weeks, while complex equipment (e.g. powered wheelchairs or hoists) can take longer. We will guide you through the process from trial to delivery.

Yes. Most assistive technology is funded under Capital Supports – Assistive Technology. We can help determine if funding is available in your current plan. If not, we can assist with making a request for additional funding.

Both the AT assessment and the equipment can be funded by the NDIS.
